Safer Care Victoria – Diathermy Clinical Practice Point
SCV has published a clinical practice point about managing fire risk during diathermy use when supplemental oxygen is administered.
ISO Review of Standard for User-applied labels for syringes used during anaesthesia
ISO 26825:2020 User-applied labels for syringes containing drugs used during anaesthesia (2nd ed.) is undergoing a 5-yearly review.
The document gives requirements for labels attached to syringes so that the contents can be identified just before use during anaesthesia. It covers the colour, size, design and general properties of the label and the typographical characteristics of the wording for the drug name.
To note, in Australia, the ACSQHC National Standard for User-applied Labelling of Injectable Medicines, Fluids and Lines (the Labelling Standard) expands on the requirements of the ISO Standard and is also currently under review.
