Seeking EOIs for DPA roles

Following the appointment of Dr Vanessa Beavis to the role of Executive Director of Professional Affairs (EDPA), ANZCA is seeking two enthusiastic and committed fellows for the part-time roles of Director of Professional Affairs, Assessor (NZ) and Director of Professional Affairs, Perioperative Medicine. Dr Beavis takes over from Dr Wilson as the new EDPA on 13 October.
Director of Professional Affairs, Assessor (NZ)
Reporting to the Executive Director of Professional Affairs (EDPA), this role focuses on high-stakes decisions about trainees in the college’s educational programs, and more generally supports the education and training work of the college. This role is to be held by a fellow practising in New Zealand to ensure knowledge of the NZ training scene within the DPA assessor group.
The DPA Assessor will be working with the Education and Research unit of the college as well as with other DPAs and involved fellows in a role that is for eight hours per week (0.2 FTE) and reporting to the EDPA with work delegation from the heads of the college’s various educational programs.
Being a practising anaesthetist (FANZCA) in New Zealand is essential as is knowledge and experience with all aspects of the college’s training programs and in-depth knowledge of the college’s education strategy and policies. Prior volunteer work for the college is highly desirable. The position is part of the Melbourne-based DPA team, but the successful applicant will be required to reside in New Zealand.

DPA, Perioperative Medicine (POM)
Reporting to the Executive Director of Professional Affairs (EDPA), this role focuses primarily on perioperative medicine (POM) matters with work in other college activities from time to time.
The DPA POM will be working with Education and Research unit staff, other DPAs and involved fellows. This role is eight hours a week (0.2 FTE) with work delegated by the Executive Director, Education and Research via the EDPA.
Whilst the position is based in Melbourne, residence in Melbourne is not necessary. The role is open to practising anaesthetists (FANZCAs) or specialist pain medicine physicians (FFPMANZCAs). Applicants must also be a graduate of the ANZCA Chapter of Perioperative Medicine (GChPOM) and have knowledge and experience of all aspects of the college’s educational activities, both vocational training and life-long learning, and in-depth knowledge of the college’s education strategy and policies. Prior volunteer work for the college is highly desirable.
