ANZCA expands open access publishing through new agreements

ANZCA fellows and trainees now have expanded opportunities to publish and access research through new read and publish (R&P) agreements with Taylor & Francis and Wiley, negotiated through the Victorian Health Library Consortium (VHLC).

These agreements enable ANZCA-affiliated authors throughout Australia and New Zealand to publish open access (OA) in eligible journals with no-cost article processing charges (APCs).

The agreements also provide access to a wider range of Taylor & Francis and Wiley journals than previously available, strengthening support for clinical practice, research and education.

In total, the deals provide R&P access to more than 2000 titles and takes in such diverse journals as the Medical Journal of Australia, ANZ Journal of Surgery, Anaesthesia, Anaesthesia Reports, Pediatric Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine Australasia, European Journal of Pain, Medical Education and Medical Teacher

The Taylor & Francis agreement came into effect on 1 January 2026, while the Wiley agreement will be available to access from 2 February 2026.

These two new agreements build on ANZCA’s existing R&P deal with Springer, now in its second year, further expanding the college’s commitment to sustainable open access publishing.

More information, including ANZCA’s open access strategy and details of all three read and publish agreements, is available via the ANZCA Library Open Access Publishing Guide

As part of the deal launch, Wiley will be hosting an online author workshop for participating libraries on Wednesday 25 February 2026, 2–3pm AEDT.
