Optimising orthopaedic outcomes – ERAS, analgesia and perioperative management
ADVANCE (Anaesthesia Discussion, Views and Contemporary Evidence) is a multidisciplinary educational platform designed to explore and compare the diverse approaches to anaesthesia practice on specific clinical topics. ADVANCE brings together professionals from anaesthesia, surgery, perioperative medicine, critical care, and related specialties to encourage meaningful dialogue, gather real-world data, compare contemporary practices, and share practical insights.
The upcoming session will focus on anaesthesia in orthopaedic surgery, with key discussions centred around:
• Enhanced recovery surgery
• Prehabilitation
• Perioperative analgesia
• Management of frailty in specific patient cohorts
This is not a didactic session. Instead, our chairs will facilitate an engaging, interactive discussion supported by live polling, encouraging active participation from all attendees.
Participants who attend and complete the pre-meeting survey will be eligible to receive Clinical Audit points under “Practice Evaluation” for CPD (continuing professional development) purposes. Following the event, a summary booklet capturing key discussions and insights will be compiled and shared with attendees.

ADVANCE rules
- The presenter of the activity will present a literature review and/or summarize local expert opinion which will be compared against local and international practice.
- Chair of presentation will facilitate a discussion amongst the attendees.
- This is an interactive meeting; audience participation is encouraged, and participants will be called upon to answer questions and express opinions. This will stimulate discussion and allow comparison of the range of practice on various subjects.
