On behalf of the co-convenors of the 2025 Combined SIG meeting, we invite you to join us from 5-7 September at the Mantra on Salt Beach, Kingscliff, northern NSW.  Hosted by the Communication in Anaesthesia SIG, the theme this year is “Can you hear me now?". We’re thrilled to announce our invited keynote speaker is the award-winning author, educator, and renowned speaker Michael Bungay Stanier. A native Australian, Michael is a former Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and now lives in Toronto, Canada. His 2016 book, The Coaching Habit, has sold more than a million copies and has been translated into 20 languages. Michael will give a presentation on "How to work with almost anyone" on Friday afternoon and a "The five question leader workshop" on Saturday morning.

On Friday morning, we will have the following workshops available.

  • How to have a difficult conversation - Dr Mark Priestly 
  • Acute severe behavioural disturbance (ASBD) - Dr Suyin Tan
  • Can curiosity be taught? - Maurice Hennessy
  • Coaching workshop - Dr Sancha Robinson and Kristi Mungure

The event will feature a wide range of topics and discussions, including updates from the Wellbeing, Medical Education and Leadership and Management SIG's.

Mantra on Salt Beach Kingscliff is perfectly located in the Tweed River Valley on New South Wales' north coast. Mantra on Salt Beach is on the doorstep of many popular Queensland and New South Wales must-see destinations including Gold Coast theme parks and beautiful Byron Bay, which are a short 30 minute drive from your accommodation.

Cost and registration

Registrations are now open. Click here to register. 

Non-members of ANZCA can register online too. Once you have completed your registration you will be provided with a college ID number and prompted for a password. This will allow you to register online for future meetings as well so please keep your college ID number. 

Your registration will include all refreshment breaks, the welcome reception and plenary sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Workshops are at an additional cost.

All registration fees are quoted in Australian dollars and are inclusive of GST.

Social activities

Welcome reception
When: Friday 5 September, 5-7pm
Cost: Included in delegate registration
Join us poolside at Mantra on Salt Beach Kingscliff following the days sessions for canapes and drinks.

Wellbeing events

Join us on Saturday afternoon for some optional wellbeing activities—come along if you'd like to unwind and recharge. The optional activities include:

  • Stand-up paddle boarding with Watersports Guru.
  • Kayak tour – Cudgen Creek with Watersports Guru.
  • Yoga – to be held at the resort.
  • Ultimate frisbee – to be held at the resort.

If you wish to attend a wellbeing event, please select your preferred option when registering for the meeting. Please note that there are additional costs for stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, and yoga.

Continuing professional development (CPD)

Participants in the ANZCA and FPM CPD Program will automatically have their attendance auto-populated to their CPD portfolio within 14 days of the conclusion of the meeting.

ANZCA and FPM CPD Program
This event is claimable by ANZCA and FPM CPD participants within the practice evaluation, knowledge and skills, or emergency responses categories.

Category 2: Knowledge and skills
Lectures/plenary sessions under ‘Learning sessions’
Workshops and small group discussions under ‘Short format learning’ activity

Category 3: Emergency responses
Where the workshop states that its satisfies an Emergency response CPD requirement, it has been recognised as suitable to be claimed as an emergency response activity, such as the CICO workshop.

If you're not a member of our CPD program
If you’re not participating in the ANZCA and FPM CPD program, please check with your respective college/provider regarding your CPD classifications. Post-event, you may request an electronic certificate of attendance for CPD evidence from the event organiser.
